Acne Myths

I am going to present three common acne myths. These are heavily debated by people who research acne but once people see interconnections where there are none then they will start to see anything can cause acne, but it all starts in your mind. The best way to see if something is true is to try it out for yourself. Check outThe Art Of Healthy Living for many ways to get rid of acne.

Myth 1: Diet and Acne are Not Related
People like to argue that we need more research before we can come to this conclusion but I don't believe any research works unless tested by the individual. If we had to wait for research to prove something for ourselves we would be utterly dependent upon scientists and guinea pigs. We just have to admit that certain diets do help certain people get rid of acne. You have to try changing your diet and keep results of any other changes in your life and see whether a healthy diet improves your skin. Certain food do disrupt digestion which can have an impact on how your body releases toxins and how pimples are formed. The oil that gets released on your skin cannot flow properly and clogs your pores and pimples are formed. If you have good digestion and better blood circulation with increased water intake, you will no doubt see your skin improve.

Myth 2:The More You Wash Your Face The Less Pimples You'll Get
It has been proven that if your skin gets irritated too much it will cause more acne. Pore walls stick together and acne is formed. Furthermore Pore walls swell when irritated so more acne can be produced if your over exfoliate or use washcloths with a rough texture. Dirt does not necessarily clog the pore but it most certainly doesn't help. So wash your face 2-3 times a day depending on how dirty or oily your skin is.

Myth 3: Stress Does Not Cause Acne

There are two sides to this coin. Stress tends to effect our hormones and pretty much how our entire body operates. A large portion of our body operates automatically. Our heart beats without conscious effort, yet when we're stressed out our heart starts beating rapidly or our breath becomes short or a tension in our face develop. Some people grind their teeth. We all get "stressed" out differently, and for some this can be the root of their acne. People think it is better to substitute acne treatments but this is just like cutting down a weed. If you want the weed completely removed you must dig up it's roots. Yes it is harder, but if you want to eliminate acne and not just halt it's progress then eliminating stress is a must. Stress is not always the root but for many it can make already existing acne worse.

This does not mean that acne treatments are useless against it. Acne treatments are stronger than stress just like a weed whacker is stronger than the weed. However you want to be able to get rid of your dependence on acne treatments altogether to where you can use natural treatments or hopefully none at all. Pay attention to your breathing when you are stressed out. Try regulating your breath if you feel like your breathing too quickly. If you exercise you can eliminate a lot of stress as well as improve blood circulation. This will help speed up the process of healing. Some may need different acne treatments than others, so take nothing to be absolute. Some can eliminate acne by eliminating stress some cannot and need treatment. The point is finding out for yourself and not letting anyone answer that question but you. This is the philosophy of The Art Of Healthy Living, you can check out our Acne Section as well.
